Clean Air Day
Vehicle emissions are one of the primary contributors to smog in Canada. Exposure to smog is associated with a number of illnesses, including cardiovascular disease, lung disease, and eye, nose, and throat irritations. Furthermore, smog can worsen existing lung diseases such as COPD and asthma. Retire Your Ride is a program that offers rewards to Canadians who recycle their 1995 and older vehicles. Retiring your Ride helps reduce smog and improve the quality of the air we breathe. Clean Air Day was celebrated on June 2nd and aimed to bring awareness to these concerns... oh yeah, along with the big Retire Your Ride orange Metrobus that's been driving around the city.
